CORD has entered into collaboration with Cambridge University Technical Services Limited (CUTS), United Kingdom for DFID sponsored program. The objective of this research is to provide an analysis of current educational provision at secondary level for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) in India, advise on relevant national and international experience in secondary education (Classes VIII, IX and X; ages 14- 16) and highlight costed policy options for the future provision of secondary education to CWSN.
Based on the objective the study endeavors to:
Analyse the data concerning the current situation in India with regards to provision of education for CWSN looking specifically at:
- Current budgetary provision and unit cost of existing CWSN initiatives under RMSA. Such analysis will be undertaken at the national level but also at state level. The states which will need to be included are: Orissa, MP, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Haryana and Delhi.
- Offer costed policy options with the potential to increase access / learning for CWSN drawn from national and international experience.
Review the financial provisions allocated towards the education of CWSN among a small number of other emerging economies, namely Brazil and South Africa.
The research will be conducted from June to October 2015.
